 Foreign direct investment into China dropped 6.1 percent year-on-year to CNY 286.55 billion, in the first four months of 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Still, investment in the high-tech service industry rose by 2.7 percent. Among them, information services, e-commerce services, and professional technical services increased by 46.9 percent, 73.8 percent, and 99.6 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the investment from countries along the Belt and Road went up by 7.9 percent, and that from ASEAN countries rose by 13 percent. But the investment from the EU dropped by 29.1 percent. In April only, the FDI surged 11.8 percent from a year earlier.
