Bosch Foundation and Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture; empowering Universities and Industry



Tehran Chamber of Commerce through its professional Center for Investment and Consultancy Services and in line with its aims to enhance private sector know-how and provide the condition for creditable and big international firms to come to Iran for co-operation, investment, transfer technology and etc., has invited Bosch Foundation (Bosch Stiftung) to be the guest of the Private Sector parliament on Tuesday February 28, 2017.

 

Tehran Chamber of Commerce through its professional Center for Investment and Consultancy Services and in line with its aims to enhance private sector               know-how and provide the condition for creditable and big international firms to come to Iran for co-operation, investment, transfer technology and etc., has invited Bosch Foundation (Bosch Stiftung) to be the guest of the Private Sector parliament on Tuesday February 28, 2017.

First Vice Chairman of TCCIMA, Mr. Mohammadreza Bakhtiari- Deputy of international Affairs of TCCIMA, Mrs. Ferial Mostofi- Head of Investment and Consultancy Services Center,  Mr. Yousef Ghasemi- Managing Director of
Dad-Flamingo Company (a knowledge based company), Mrs. Helga Nowotny- Professor emerita at ETH Zurich of Science and Technology Studies (STS) and a Founding Member of the European Research Council and Mr. Micheal Stampfer – Managing Director of the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) were the key speakers of this gathering.

 Knowledge based companies, Universities, researchers, startup companies were also invited to this seminar.

For the opening, Mr. Mohammadreza Bakhtiari-Deputy of international Affairs of TCCIMA, indicated to the role of Universities and Industry on the development of the economy. He also added that Tehran Chamber of Commerce as one of the biggest non-governmental organizations always support improvement of technology inside Iran and transfer of know-how from international companies.

 Dr. Jahangiri- First Vice Chairman of TCCIMA uttered that presence and co-operation of Bosch Foundation can affect empowering and updating professional human resources in the country.  He emphasized on the importance of promoting interaction between universities and industry for a better economy.
Government plan for attracting foreign investment, expanding international relationships with the world and the effective role of private sector in economic development were the other subjects indicated by him.

Mehdi Jahangiri added that for achieving these goals, Tehran Chamber of Commerce has allocated a budget for supporting knowledge based companies.

In pursuance to TCCIMA activities, Mrs. Ferial Mostofi- Head of Investment and Consultancy Services Center delivered a speech accompanying a comprehensive presentation introducing Iran atmosphere, overview of investment in Iran and the available opportunities for knowledge based companies. She also introduced Investment and Consultancy Services Center and its missions.

She pointed up the requirements of technology and innovation enhancement, removal of bureaucracy, facilitation of doing business, public announcement of entrepreneurship programs and promotions, development of training facilities, investment in R&D fields, reinforcing technology parks and finally relationship between Iranian and foreign companies.

 “Establishment of persistent cooperation with Iranian companies” was the issue raised by Mrs. Helga Nowotny.  She continues with the attention being paid to training and education of young generation all cross the glob and the enthusiasm of countries seeking modern technology and science for development.  Professor Nowotny as the Founding Member of the European Research Council stated that this council is looking for providing the budget required for Research & Development of modern technology in whole Europe.   

European Research Council has focused on financial support of R&D departments and relationship of university and industry. Since Iran and Europe has started
co-operation in these areas, Bosch Foundation jointly with European Research Council will strengthen this co-operations.

Finally Mr. Joachim Rogall – CEO of Bosch Foundation represented the foundation and its mission. He expressed on Robert Bosch- Founder of Bosch Foundation willingness of which a part of this Foundation income is allocated internationally for development of science, technology, research, training and education.

He clarified the reason of his delegation trip to Iran for expansion and advancement of Iran and EU scientific collaborations. There are common challenges for both Iran and EU but can be dealt.


 After Mr. Joachim Rogall, Mr. Micheal Stampfer – Managing Director of the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) and Mr. Yousef Ghasemi- Managing Director of Dad-Flamingo Company (a knowledge based company) also delivered their speeches both focused and highlighted the importance of empowering knowledge based companies, R&D departments, upgrading education and training systems and etc.

This one day seminar ended by answering the participants’ questions.

A three day trip to Sharif University, Tehran University, Department of Science and Technology and some of the academic and research centers of Iran, as well as specialized meetings with the organizations concerned, including the Community funds and institutions, venture capital and Assembly knowledge-based organizations during Bosch Delegation visit trip to Iran were adjusted with coordination of Tehran Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, on March 01, 2017, a high ranking delegation from the German Bosch Foundation headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Martin Andersson, Adjunct Professor of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship met with a team from the Faculty of Entrepreneurship at the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture and held discussion on entrepreneurial research and innovation which mainly revolved on internationalization of business between Iran and Germany on a reciprocal arrangement for transfer of experience and expertise in research areas.

The Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH (Robert Bosch Foundation), a charitable institution, is one of the leading private foundations of Europe that is known for its promotion of natural and social sciences, including public health and science, education, society and culture, and international relations. Established in 1964.

The foundation channels the share dividend it receives for charitable work exclusively, including to support general medical care, international understanding, social work, training and education.

Beside all abovementioned points, A MOU was signed between Tehran Chamber of Commerce Center of Investment and Bosch Foundation for better cooperation in near future.

The Bosch Foundation also assessed positive the results of his visit to Iran and declare to carry out further cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the future.
